Skadi - A goddess who loved the cold

Skadi was a Scandinavian mountain goddess. She is associated with skiing and the wintry lands over which she reigned.

After marrying Balder, the sea god, she moved into his palace at the bottom of the ocean. However, she was not accustomed to living in a watery place below the skies.

​Seeing her misery, Balder moved with Skadi, back to the snow covered mountains. However, Balder was not happy living in her world. As they were not compatible, the couple dissolved their marriage. Skadi later found a better mate and married the god of skis, Ullr.

This is a speed editing video that I made of one of the images from this shoot.  We actually shot these on a 90 degree sunny day, so the illusion of cold and snow, I created later in Photoshop.
