As an artist, sometimes we fall into a creative rut. I've been avoiding confronting mine by spending my time concentrating on volunteer work (TNR and cat rescue) and less inspirational endeavors. But it's soul draining to not have that outlet--to not sketch, draw, or design for yourself. Finally, I broke the spell, after happening across an Adobe Creative Cloud video. It's one of those "one minute" tutorials, which I reluctantly watched at first. I was skeptical about how useful it would be with it being so short. However, the video inspired me to apply a new technique to my portrait editing. Below is the YouTube tutorial that I viewed. I have a new appreciate for these kinds of videos that Adobe releases, as I learned a useful technique that inspired me to create. Watching this video gave me the idea to apply the neon light effect to some of my images that I had shot with gels. I do love gels! So having a reason to play even more with one of my favorite lighting techniques in post was an incentive. If you're feeling stuck and uninspired, check out some of Adobe's Make It Now videos. The possibilities are endless!

This is a styling tips video that I posted a last year, but I wanted to share it again, as many of the ribbons used in it I found in stores this time of year. Holiday ribbons are perfect for creative little upgrades to your fashion and beauty photography. After Christmas, hit up the clearance aisles at the craft stores to find some amazing discounted pretties! Also, reuse ribbons and bows that come on any gifts you receive (or ask your friends and family if you can have theirs before they throw them away). It's an excellent way to upcycle and upgrade your images. |
